Small Maize God Idol

This small and intricately carved figure depicts a version of a sitting maize god. He is shown with a large corn headdress and large round earrings. These Mexican ceramics are handmade in the traditional 'barro' style and are fired in a small kiln at a small family-run pottery workshop in Texcoco, before being hand painted.
