Giant Artisan Cheppu Mask No.265
About this product
This giant mask depicts a protective figure known variously as Chhepu, Cheppu or as a kind of Makara. One of three powerful brothers Cheppu is often regarded as being brave and fearsome, and is seen regularly in Nepalese architecture guarding the way above doors, arches and gateways. Cheppu and his brothers are the enemies of the Nagas (snakes) and are usually depicted eating one. This mask has been hand carved by skilled artisans in Nepal and the level of detail is amazing. These pieces are sold individually. Please do not order more than one of each individually coded unit. The mask will show small signs of wear and tear, adding to their rustic uniqueness. Approx. 65cm × 64cm × 17cm
