Brass Green Tara Statue No.391
About this product
This beautiful brass statue depicts the much loved goddess Green Tara. She is easily identified by her one leg outstretched, ready for swift action and the positions of her hands. Her left hand is in the mudra of protection whilst the right assumes the mudra of giving. She is adorned with intricate ornaments and sits atop a lotus flower. Born from the tears of the Boddhisattva of compassion, it is believed Tara will protect humans crossing the ocean of existence. Our selection of brass and copper statues have been hand crafted using the traditional 'lost wax' technique. Initially a wax model is created and encased in clay to create a mould. The wax is then melted away - 'lost' - and the hollow that is left is filled with molten metal. Once this hardens the clay mould is broken away so there is now a metal replica of the initial wax model. Approx 21cm × 15cm
