Huipil Headband

These brightly coloured headbands have been created using recycled hand embroidered huipils. Each of the headbands will be different reflecting the nature of this beautiful handmade fabric, and each is elasticated for a comfortable fit.Huipils are a traditional garment worn by women of Central and South America. Typically made on a back strap loom, these Guatemalan huipils are a fascinating show of the individuality and diversity of the country with each village having its own distinct style, often bearing intricate and meaningful designs. Once the huipil hasworn out through use, the material is often sold at the market so that it can be recycled and made into a new garment or item.
