Lingam Singing Bowl
About this product
These unusual bowls are made in the lingam style which is characterised by the inclusion of central protrusion in the centre of the bowl which represents the male principle. As a result of this feature the bowl also has a dimple on the underside of the bowl. This lingam is particularly associated with Shaivastic traditions and is a symbol of Shiva himself. The bowls have amazingly clear tones and have a simple decorative band around the rim.
Singing bowls from Nepal are made from five metals: copper, iron, tin, lead and zinc. The major components are copper and tin which make up the bronze alloy often referred to as ‘bell metal’. The other metals are present only in very small amounts.
Each bowl comes with a complimentary beater made from a locally grown tree near to where the bowls are forged called 'Haldu' or 'Haldina'.
Please refer to common inscriptions shown in images, which adorn many of these beautiful bowls. However, please be aware that each bowl is unique and may differ. If you have any questions about a unique singing bowls, please contact us.
