Medium Catrina Ceramic No.48
About this product
These marvellous Catrina ceramic statues are rarely seen outside of Mexico and each one is a wonderfully elaborate piece of art. This particular Catrina wears a vibrant purple dress painted with colourful flowers. The skeletal fingers and the attention to detail around the skull and jewellery are stunning. Made with the upmost of care and attention to detail in a small family workshop on the outskirts of Texcoco, the figures show the famous Catrina skeleton. Originally made by artist Jose Posada, 'La Calavera Catrina' has become a very popular image in Mexico and is closely associated with the Day of The Dead festival. Diego Rivera has also had a lasting influence on the popularity of the image after he included her in many of his vast murals. This is a very rare opportunity to buy a truly exceptional item of Mexican folk art.
