Mexican Fertility Idol

These powerful ceramics are made in the traditional 'barro' style. Each idol is fired in a small kiln before then being carefully hand painted. The figure depicted here is based on the goddess Tlazolteotl during the act of childbirth. She is shown with an ornate headdress and surrounded by snakes and serpent heads. A great teaching tool for understanding the history of Mesoamerica. Various colours available
