White Wood Buddha

This beautiful white wood carving of Buddha is made from crocodile wood (panggal buaya in Indonesian) which means crocodile teeth, referring to the knobby, tooth-shaped protrusions which cover the trunk. These protrusions and the bark are left on the carving to provide an interesting contrast in texture against the smooth satin feel of the internal wood. Each piece is handmade so there will be slight variation in the carving and due to the nature of the wood may feature discolouration within the wood including black stripes and tonal differences.
